As a child I had quite the sweet tooth! Now that I'm older, I have become more reasonable. However, I still have a soft spot for fruit roll-ups! I found a recipe for homemade ones and then adjusted it to what worked for me. Turned out delicious!! I want to run right to the store and buy more strawberries asap!! Here is my version
1.5 lbs strawberries (or other fruit)
1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Puree fruit and sugar in a blender until smooth. Pour onto 2 baking sheets lined with a silicone baking mat (or parchment paper sprayed with Pam). Smooth thin, about 1/8" thick.
Bake until center is no longer tacky, about 2 hours. Remove from oven and peel off baking sheet onto fresh piece of parchment paper. Cut into long strips and roll up. Secure with a piece of tape. Store in airtight container or freeze.
OurBestBites. I like not cooking the fruit on the stove-top first (as some other recipes call for), but I liked cooking it faster at a slightly higher temperature in the oven. Two hours sounds way better than 6-8!! You should try it; you'll love it!!
