Depends on the day

Emery is so funny. One day he will love something, and the next day not so much. Remember how much Emery like the Greenville fountains last time? (Scroll down past the huge paragraph!)
This time he walked over, put his hand in and was done! He kept wanting to sit on my lap. Weird!

Here he is, just looking at all the other kids having fun. He's such a people watcher! He loves to observe.

Back at home Emery had some superhero flying lessons.

Learning to hammer using foam and golf tees.

Building log cabins.

I can see you though my door!

Transferring water with a dropper.

Today he was feeling like playing in the water more when we had a little kiddie pool day. Silly boy! It just depends on the day what sort of mood you'll get!

Mommy's helper

Emery always wants to be Mommy's helper, even when she is crafting. I spent a lot of time today making girly hair things and Emery thought he should be the first to try it out!
To see more of what I made head over to my crafty blog handmadebyjulie!

High highs, and low lows

Fridays usually start off with playdate at 9. Emery went to his friend Sam's house and celebrated Sam turning 3. They had pig cupcakes and played in the sprinkler. I think Emery loved it! And he got a treat bag with bubbles, play doh, a hat, a horn, fruit snacks, and Diego bandaids. Emery was in heaven!!
Back at home we found some things to keep us busy...

One of Emery's favorite toys: Melissa & Doug cutting food!

Building with foam blocks

Making balls with tissue paper, and throwing them into a diaper box. Use what you have :)

Play doh (from his buddy Sam! thanks). Always a hit!

Playing trains

Emery was so hyper and silly by the time dinner came around. We met up with his friend Sam at Chick-Fil-A for Sam's birthday dinner!

Then on to Frankie's Fun Park for go cart racing! The boys were so excited....

until they got in and
1. It was SO loud with all the motors running and
2. They couldn't sit on Daddy's lap :(
Emery cried. Poor thing. Maybe he'll like it better in a year!

He perked back up to play games!

He liked this car racing better!

Before we left, they decided to try the little boats.

Sam and Emery liked to spray each other with their water guns!

He liked this one much better!

It was a hot day today, in the 90's. So we cooled off with some crushed ice before bed! Fun day :)

Washing Rocks

We started out our day at the park today. Emery found some rocks to bring home, which I gently suggested he could wash in the sink.

I don't know why this is sideways. Oh well...

Emery tried out a new color sorting game. Using tongs he placed the balls in matching cups.

Still working on colors, he later sorted buttons. (And then closed the lid and shook it to make "Loud" thunder)

When he finished the buttons, we had some fun with bubble wrap!

While we waited for Daddy to come home from work we played with the parachute!

But, it was even more fun with Daddy!

Keeping busy

There are so many great resources on the internet these days! I've found some great ideas for things to do with Emery. There are way too many to list but 2 of my favorites right now are the blogs Chasing Cheerios and 1 + 1 + 1 = 1. Both do some sorts of Montessori as well as their own ideas and variations of activities for their kids. Many of the activities I'll be posting about were inspired by these or similar blogs!

Adding fluff to a sheep (ignore my poor, quick sketch of a sheep!) with a little glue and some cotton balls.

Spring Matching found here

Matching colors with clothespins

Nuts and bolts in various sizes (Emery loves this one!)

Stringing beads

Matching shapes

Productive Day

I feel like ever since it's been getting so hot, (and then rainy too) I've been lacking motivation to do anything! I made some goals and lists and hopefully I'll get back in my groove! Today was good, but it's only one day! We'll see how long it lasts!! Sorry this post became so long! It looks like we were super busy but many of these activities last only a few minutes so we still had lots of down time in addition to these things we did!

I decided the only way we could spend much time outside would be to do it early! So at 8:30 we headed over to Heritage Park. The weather was perfect. It was warm but with shade from trees we were pretty comfortable. We found some pine cones. And threw them in bushes. (Don't ask, I don't know why that's what he always wants to do with them)

And played!

Then we came home for Snack Time!

Next we shifted gears with singing songs and reading some library books.

I then introduced Emery to some rice. He scooped and poured and had a grand 'ol time. Well, that is until he poured a cup of water in the rice! (It was my fault I guess. I left it on the table from snack time and he's a curious 2 year old!)

Then it was lunchtime with some cheese quesadillas.

Finally nap time :)

After our rest we played animal matching...

what doesn't belong....

and matching.
After this we had to stop and pick up Daddy from work. Emery was so excited to play blocks with Daddy! And then he saw the rice and played that some more!

After dinner we had Family Home Evening.

For our treat we made pudding in a bag. It's easy, just use the recipe on the box but shake and squish it in a bag instead of whisk it! Lots of fun!!

We topped our pudding off with some whipped cream too :)

Oh, and as we waited the 5 minutes for the pudding to set a little, we practiced buttons with a vest on Emery's brown teddy bear.

And also on his bed spread. (It's a duvet and has a cover. The opening at the bottom is done up with 3 buttons.) They are the perfect size for beginners!

We had a fun day! We'll see what tomorrow brings....
