Ahh, strawberry season in the south :)

Emery and I went with some friends to Stewart Farms to pick strawberries today. For only $7 a gallon and about an hour of picking time, I'd say we got our money's worth!

Emery was pretty excited!

He had a little trouble knowing which ones to pick. I kept telling him only the really red ones, but we may have gotten a few yellow ones too!

They are really nice about allowing sampling while you pick! Emery had his fair share for sure. I finally had to tell him no more after 20 or so.
I'm a little worried how that's going to "come out" tomorrow :/

I don't know why this picture is sideways, oh well. These are our 2 gallon baskets (which they provide and let you take home) full and ready to go.

When I got home I spread them out on cookie sheets. My 2 gallon baskets=3 cookie sheets full! Oops, should have just got one gallon!

I made 2 batches of freezer jam and it only took 3/4 of one cookie sheet full. I guess I need to make more jam! Anyone want some?

From 2 batches I got 10 (8 oz) containers + a little left over too.
When I went to the store to get canning jars, I discovered they have these plastic screw-top containers made for freezer jam! I love them! Not breakable and I can reuse them! Plus they were cheap!

And I also made a strawberry desert for dinner. This is strawberry-apricot dutch babies (minus the apricot). I found it in my Woman's Day magazine (June issue) along with a handful of other strawberry recipes!

I suppose I'll cut some up and freeze them too, since I have so many left. But we'll try to eat as many fresh as possible. Yum yum!

YUM! I love strawberries! I used those same plasic cups for my strawberry jam...but the lids cracked. Does that matter?
Oh my goodness, I am SO jealous! I want a Stewart's Farm by me! That looked like so much fun! And holy cow - look at all that jam! Isn't homemade freezer jam the best? Wow, I'm impressed. YUM!
It looks like Utah has 1 place. Check out www.utahberries.com
That looks like so much fun. Strawberry jam is my fav. I bet Emery loved it.
I am so jealous! I love strawberries I might just move there for them!
That looks like so much fun! I definitely need your recipe for the jam. Florida strawberry season is over now, but I can always use the California strawberries we have now. :)
That looks like it was fun. And I love strawberry freezer jam!
We get fresh strawberries year-round out here. Hee, hee.
Awesome, I wish we had a strawberry farm near us! I'm totally jealous.
